I've been having problems getting my computers to access my factory 2007 CD based service manual and have found some info on a few sites saying that it only works with MS Explorer 6 browser and not the latest. I have two different systems, one with Windows 64 bit version 7 and it has Explorer 9 on it, my other is an XP system with Explorer 8 and both act strange when attempting to access the CD. The following is the message I see using Firefox or any of the newer versions of Explorer.

Has anyone else found this and if so is there a solution? I bought my copy directly from Chrysler back in 2007 and there doesn't seem to be any explanation regarding how to address this problem. It was $120 at the time and the latest is at least another $100 higher but still the same part number.

Thanks in advance for solutions... .

Have you tried this:

How to use Compatibility View in Internet Explorer 9 Also works for 8

Websites that were designed for earlier versions of Windows Internet Explorer might not display correctly in Internet Explorer 9. However, you can often improve how a website will look by using a feature called Compatibility View.

When you turn on Compatibility View, the website you're viewing will be displayed as if you were using an earlier version of Internet Explorer.

If Internet Explorer recognizes a webpage that isn't compatible, you'll see the Compatibility View button on the Address bar. To turn Compatibility View on, click the Compatibility View button to make the icon change from an outline to a solid color .

From now on, whenever you visit this website, it will be displayed in Compatibility View. However, if the website receives updates to display correctly in the current version of Internet Explorer, Compatibility View will automatically turn off.

Notes
Not all website display problems are caused by browser incompatibility. Interrupted Internet connections, heavy traffic, or problems with the website can also affect how a webpage is displayed.

If your computer is part of a network at an organization such as a school, government agency, or a business, your organization's system administrator might have turned on Compatibility View for all websites by using Group Policy. If a website doesn't display correctly, you can turn off Compatibility View by clicking the Compatibility View button .

I found and tried this but it does not work. I purchased my copy from Techauthority and have started a dialog with them to see what the solution is. So far their response has been that the manual was not tested with newer versions of Explorer (nothing newer than 6). I've found other forums discussing the same topic and it appears those users have tried compatibility view as well with no success accessing the electrical diagrams. The mechanical portion works sometimes.

If they provide a solution or workaround I'll pass it on. For now the CD does not provide much value. A future proof version in PDF format with searchable functions would be far superior.

The SVGview. exe which came with my CD was not the latest. I found a newer version at Adobe and installed it (apparently the version I downloaded was the last one Adobe plans to release - end of life for the product). I'm not sure how the Adobe reader fits in but am ensuring I have the latest while I wait to see what Techauthority comes up with.

I'm having some success with the non-electrical area but electrical schematics just does not work.

You need the latest Acrobat Reader because it is a PDF format, and has nothing to do with a website. I have Window's 7 with IE 9 and tried my 2005 CD, works for me. You might try removing the Acrobat and re-installing it.

I've been working with support in Techauthority and so far the message is that they have not tested it with the latest browsers. Further, it appears that Windows XP and IE 6 is what is needed to use the CD - at least for the 2007 Dodge Ram CD. It does not work with MACs. I've tried several versions of Adobe Acrobat to see if that has an effect, I've also tried it on different PCs - same problem. Updated browsers are supposed to have SVG Viewing capabilities built in, so I've removed the SVG viewer with no success while trying it under IE version 9. Again - the Electrical diagram portion of the CD is what appears to be affected.

It appears to me they are selling very expensive coffee coasters if the service CDs will only work with outdated versions of Internet Explorer. I've communicated to them that I should not have to go back to Windows XP and IE version 6 to access this service manual but it appears that is the only official answer I have received. I'm open for suggestions, but it seems a simple PDF document would be far superior to what they have now. If someone has a contact at TechAuthority, it would be a great opportunity to find out what is going on. I expect a lot of folks beyond myself might like a solution, but I am getting no where.
