Ok so i have searched to understand what options are available to replace the uncomfortable rear seats in the quad cab. Family complain that too upright and just plain bad on long trips. I want to rip them out completely and start over. Most searches come up with seat cover etc. Help my poor children from the ravages of no wifi coverage and uncomfortable seating

I've been around here a long time and I recall several threads dealing with the front seats. But, I can't recall any discussions on rear seat replacements.

You're much nicer than I am. My kids have had thousands upon thousands of miles in the back of a third gen quad cab. They don't say anything probably because they know I wouldn't care if they did complain. Now the Wi-Fi....I hear that song all the time.

There really is no easy cure. In reality the best way to deal within it is to buy either a Mega Cab or a newer Crew Cab. I heard the same complaints when I had my 03. I went looking for a Quad ( I also wanted to change to an auto from a stick ) But ended up with an 08 Quad. Granted same size back seat but my daughter says it is more comfortable. ( it has a quarter of the mileage on the new truck and is a Laramie.) The main reason I bought this one is that I knew the owner who bought it new and I knew what he had done to it. He went to a new Crew Cab for his 3 kids.

It was 9+ years ago when I was looking at the rear seat on the 05. Iirc the lower mounts are bolted in with two bolts on each side. Don't know if the 07 is the same. I unbolted the brackets and moved them forward as a test and it worked ok to recline the seat back a bit. I didn't think it would have been too big a deal to rework the brackets to move the seat forward, but I drive with the front seat back as far as it will go and the loss of the already limited rear leg room was just too much imo.
