I've been trying to level the front end with new coils, spacers and to make it easier I should remove the brake caliper so I don't damage the brake lines. My question is this, shouldn't the two smaller 13mm bolts holding the slider come off without having to remove the caliper bracket? I'm on my 3rd attempt to get the correct spacer height to get maximum height without having to change out spindles. It would be alot easier if I could just remove the slider instead of the complete caliper bracket to prevent hose damage, but for some reason it's not wanting to slide out completely. I've tried manipulating the metal pad clips but they still don't want to come out completely. I've always had 4wd trucks and is it a 2WD issue or are they the same on the 4WDs.
Thanks gang.

I sent you the manual for the early third gens, you need to pull both bolts way back, and tip the "free side" out, then lift / lower it to get the tabbed side free and it will come out. One end of the caliper has a "L" shape to it preventing it to slide strait back hence the need to "tip it out". These dont simply slide directly back like others do when the two sliding bolts are loosened.

Did you press the pistons in? I cant tell from the pictures, but the pads will prevent the caliper from removal if some pressure isn't released.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that also,. even with piston pressure released, they can be tricky sometimes to get out and make you wonder if you are holding your mouth right?

I have always just taken the big bolts out first, then set the whole caliper assembly on a milk crate and pull the small bolts out. I don't know if you can even do small bolts first.

Regarding your avatar... is that your Oil Pull tractor?
