With the milage reports I am seeing from real world owners, there isn't one change they could make that would make me want to buy a 6. 7

I think it will stay unchanged until 2012, since it already meets emissions.

I'm hoping there won't be any more increases in diesel emission requirements for awhile :mad:

I'm also hoping diesel emission controls will improve to where the system could be simplified and most of all become less costly to repair & maintain.

Who can afford these $40-50K trucks nowadays anyways?? Prices are insane! Hey Vaughn, long live our 12-valvers. Mike

There will be more changes by 2010 when new Tier III emissions go into effect. All diesels manufactured for the US market (on or off-road) will have to have urea injection for the exhaust to cut down on Nox emissions. It'll have an extra tank somewhere in the engine compartment for the urea that'll be a maintenence item like changing your oil. Yee ha. :rolleyes:

The 6. 7L Cummins has been approved for 2010 emissions. It is the only diesel in the Big 3 that in it's current form meets those standards.

I didn't see anything wrong with the mileage numbers? In fact, I thought the Cummmins figures were much better than the two competitors...

I'd buy one. Now, my 24V gets great mileage when not towing (22+), but seriously sucks the fuel when towing(~6) but maybe its from towing a 19K Lb trailer and holding 45Lbs of boost for miles?.

Seems the 6. 7L is a little more stable, either towing or not towing. I do like the fact of 350 Flywheel HP and not a whisper of smoke...

If I were to get a new diesel truck today, I feel the Dodge would be the wisest choice.

Oh I am not trashing Dodge. I would gladly buy another dodge in a heartbeat. But I would look for a 5. 9 before I bought a 6. 7 I do like the addition of the factory exhaust brake.

Is this accurate, I thought the technology went down either EGR or urea injection, but not both???

I am also disappointed with the mileage on the new 6. 7. I realize that the search for more power and new emissions are creating this but it is getting harder to justify getting rid of my 97. :{
