Can you Chrysler Techs give me a little advice, please??
2008 T&C 36,000 miles. Had Dealer check brakes before warranty expired. They only looked at the fronts apparently because last week the right rear brake started howling. Tore both rears apart, pads were paper thin. Got new Carquest shoes, turned the calipers back in (I have the tool) rotors were OK so I put the new pads in and turned the wife loose with it. She complained of a smell from the rear, checked it with infared heat gun and right rear quite hot, left rear warmer than normal as well.
Found the parking brake reset procedure where you remove the cable equalizer and reset foot pedal. Did that and figured I had it nailed.
Not the case, still hanging.
Have you seen caliper issues with these??? I am wonder if the shoes are too tight and hanging in the bracket. Considering grinding a whisker off the metal toe of the pad to see if that helps.
Let me know what you have seen with these as I am having a hard time believing both calipers are junk at that kind of mileage.
Thanks,
Mike.
