So I go to start Blue this morning and at first it ran a little rough but after 5 min or so it seemed to run fine. Then a ten min. drive still running fine. I shut it down for 30 or so min. went to start it back up and it took 2 tries to fire up. Now the same drive home it runs like a tired 3 legged horse. No power and when I step on the accelerator it chokes and does not want to move. I have to gradually get up to speed. There are no codes being thrown at all. injectors? any advice on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

thank you Richard

is it idleing rough? sound like an injector miss?

first thing to do, check fuel filter/s, its rare but a bad load of fuel could plug them quickly. where are you located? ambient temps are starting to dip in some areas, could be fuel gelling, again this is kind of rare anymore. also check for any loose fittings and cracked damaged lines, could be getting air in somewhere. on that note has it been serviced recently? could have a bad seal on the filter.

Thank you Mahannink. Yes it does have a rough idle, serviced less then 2K miles ago. I did however change the fuel filter anyway and no improvement. The lines and fittings all look good and the temps here in Colorado have been in the low to mid 30's in the PM hours but Blue usually gets parked in a heated garage. It's still under factory warranty and the dealer is going to tow it and take care of it. My cousin's 08 just got out of the shop today for a bad EGR and the DPF was plugged and would not re-gen over $2,500 worth of repairs. Thank God for warranties.

it might need a regen. do the 6. 7's have a manual regen switch?

No switch, but the dealer can do a force regen. The truck is under warranty. Have the dealer do there diagnostics to figure the issue out. These new trucks w/ the slightest issue will cause the truck grief.

Well it has now taken three days and the dealer called today and left me a message and said it could be injectors. I figure in in about 6 short weeks I might have Blue back.

I agree with you 100% Joe and when the warranty is up the crap is going to come off!

Finally!!! I have my truck back. I turned out to be the number three injector.

I also had an interesting phone call from the service tech.

Service tech-hello Richard we found a fuel system failure. The number eight injector is not in working order.

Me-huh, the number eight injector?

S. t. -yuppers it looks like that is the problem.

Me-huh, I guess it was much worse than I thought. There is a power joke under the hood.

S. t. -(long pause)( laughs) i'm sorry the three looks like an eight. No sir there is no power joke under the hood. The number three injector was bad and it is fixed and is good to go.

Thank you every one for your help/wisdom.
And a big thanks to TDR for this service. What a great place for learning. I think I learn something new every time I log on. I love it!

sincerely, Richard

And that right there is why I hate dealerships, desk jockeys, parts people, and operators.
