2009 production starts when?

Does anybody know when production switches to 2009 models? Also does Dodge still do runs of models or can you have 4x4 followed by a 4x2, how about a 5500 followed by a 4500 on the production line? When we ordered our 99 4x4 2500 pickup we had to wait because the current production was on 4x2's.

With the price of fuel going throught roof, we might not see any more 4500/5500's being made.

I have to disagree with FATCAT in that over the years GM and Ford have sold a lot of vehicles in the Class 5 truck class... . a lot of those customers are looking for something other than the Duramax and Powerstroke, or for that matter the gas engine.....

I think that Dodge fills that gap... as an owner of a 2000 F550 that was driving me nuts in repairs compared to my 3500 duallys it was a natural choice to move to the 5500 when the Ford was worn out with 500K miles... .

There are a lot of utilities, counties, water districts, citys, and states that will replace their worn out vehicles in the Class 5 range... that's where Dodge will pick up the customers... most of us on this board are really not the market that Dodge is looking at for sales...

I've bought an 08 5500, the PUD electric co-op that I live in bought 4 or 5 of them... . to me thats the real market... and that money is usually always there...

Jelag you and I are both in the market they are looking at, small to med businesses. Although I agree with what you're saying in that the bigger market for these trucks is utilities and municipalities, those with large fleets.



Now for jokes, I called the dealer yesterday afternoon about this. He stated I would be able to order a 2008 for about two more weeks and recieve it by the 1st or 2nd week of August. He didn't however know about when production would start on the 2009's and only guessed it would be mid October before I could have a truck. He is going to speak with his factory rep and try to get a firmer answer for me. I really hope this is not the case since I am not in a position to order the truck right this moment but will be needing the truck this fall for a bid I've put in.

I bet the complete system is filled with trucks... with raw material on order... . I personally don't think we'll see new trucks until late Sept. or early Oct.
