2010 Bug Screen Option

Just installed Geno's condenser guard and the Quick Grill Release Kit on 2010 Laramie. As an option to sandwiching a layer of screen mesh to keep the bugs out, I purchased screen window kit from local hardware store and made an aluminum screen the same size as the grill guard. I attached it to the grill guard with adhesive backed velcro so it can easily be removed for cleaning. Once in place, it looks like it belongs there.

Note that the window screen kits can be found in dark gray anodized color, so you don't have to use the bright aluminum.

That is good that your going to protect those coolers right from the get go. I felt that the window screen was to restrictive for air to flow enough air , so I found some 1/8" screening and it has worked great for my application. I found that the big hardware stores don't stock this but the little corner hardware stores do.

Just my pennies worth.

I've always used black screen and some zip ties on my trucks, easy to install and keep clean...

I used the regular window screen for years on my 02 and never had an issue. For that installation, the screen was zip tied right inside the grill. I had actually considered using the 1/8 inch mesh and am considering going that route. In any case, the installation is pretty clean looking and easy to come up with.
