2010 dificulty returning to straight ahead after a turn?

My 2010 CTD, 4x4, crew cab, LWB requires a concerted effort to return to straight ahead driving after a turn. It seems that the power steering only works when initiating a turn but not when straightening out from a turn. This is quite noticeable when empty or while towing a10,000 lb. 5th wheel. Has anyone else experienced this?

Does it do this when turning either direction? I'd think the "power" part of the steering is working because it moves in the one direction. I do not know if they have changed steering boxes but I have had failures on my 94. When the steering box goes there can be some strange and at times scary results. Just more guessing but check steering stabilizer for damage.

ck to see if your truck has the p/s cap recall... .

My steering wheel requires noteworthy force to begin the return to center after either a left or right turn. Nothing changed after the p/s cap recall replacement.

Ok time to get the tools out... ... ..... disconnect linkage and ck for binding(assuming alignment is good)
