Since the other poll started in 2001 it's time for an update. All the 24V trucks are at least 8 years old now. How's your truck holding up?

1999 2500 2WD

149K, original VP, OEM transmission getting ready to go DTT, just changed out the OEM lift pump to FASS, New ball joints, pitman & idler arm, BDSB, new cooling hoses they didn't need changing after inspection, new hawks, Bilsteins all around

98. 5 2500 with 133,000 on it. Third VP44 :( but the second vp was a defective pump. So I guess you could consider it on the second one. Love my truck wouldnt trade it for anything.

143000. in the last 15000 miles: oem lift pump replaced with fass 95, water pump exploded, killed the altenator in the process. new t-stat when the water pump went in. one front wheel bearing. origanal vp. 5 dead deer, and the damage to prove it. runs great just looks rough.

121,000 miles. 2nd VP44, 3rd OEM LP on the way out, fuel level gauge needs replaced, nursing a sick 47RE (Goerend planned), going to 3rd Gen rims and Toyo ATs, cracked dash, Hydra-boost leaks, need air bags.

I love the truck but am torn if I should sink $7-8k to fix or sell invest the cash in a 3rd Gen 3500 Quad with more payload and room for my two boys.

Doing very well, thanks... now over 202,000. Total repairs include 3 lift pumps, 1 u-joint (under warranty), an APPS, front brakes complete, and rear brakes pucks only. Also new shocks at 102,000. After 8 1/2 years, I'm even still on the original batteries.

130k of hard use with a camper on most of the time and pulling a woodie on a trailer, vp and lift pump under warrenty, lift pump now in tank, right front hub under warrenty - bad bearing, one set of front pads, one set of shocks, one set of tires. never been towed or left me stranded. original clutch and batteries. The most reliable vehicle I ever owned and I had a Toyota Pickup and a Honda Civic.

01 4x4 Quad Cab, Auto, 202K+, lost first lift pump at 50k, second at 120k. At that time i complained and Dodge paid labor to place the pump in the fuel tank. Just had the front end rebuilt. Still running strong.

200K Plus

I have the first 24 valve Cummins. I ordered it in January of 1998. It has a little over 200k miles. Good truck overall, but many many problems that have cost me a lot of money. Are some of these problems the result of my driving, Yes they are.

The list of problems that required shop time are many and varied. In the engine compartment, replaced ECM, TPS, a broken exhaust manifold, to a blown head gasket (twice), replaced six injectors, replaced injector pump. Replaced upper ball joints, rebuilt transmission, relocated lift pump and then replaced three lift pumps before going to FASS, replaced all three U joints, blown input shaft seal on rear-end. But, I am ordering a new one now so I guess I am satisfied.

Pretty low 56K miles - plenty of mods, truck was primarily a 5th wheel tow rig until we moved here to eastern Oregon. This is my second Dodge/Cummins, first was a '91 also used for RV towing - spent $12 on that one in 11 years and 120K miles for actual repairs - great truck, this '02 has cost a bit more for repairs - but still love all it's improvements and refinements over the '91. It's still in like new condition overall - and a real joy to drive, either empty or towing. :)Oo.

I have 154,xxx on my 98. 5 with only wheel speed sensor replaced and front axle seals in front diff. Original VP, replaced lift pump because of gun shyness after reading all the posts here.

120,000 on my 2000.

3 lift pumps before Fass 95

Now doesn't start in cold weather.

Also, occasional rough idle.

Should have bought a Ford!

only thing that has failed on mine is the ABS sensor in the rear end at ~14,000, and the original lift pump at ~20,000. Beyond that, all else is a mod or upgrade, but then again I am probably the leader in the first category for lo miles
