I attached a picture of what I found the last time I had my transmission serviced at the dealer. They called me back and allowed me to take a picture of this. It is not cracked, the veins are not very deep. Has anyone seen this before, and should I have it replaced? The truck has 185,836 miles on it. I tow alot with the truck.

What are we supposed to see? Looks like a run of the mill valve body to me. I must be missing something.

I think he's referring to the small "cracks" in the bottom surface of the transfer plate (the lower casting).

Actually, those are NORMAL. They are actually RAISED ridges (not cracks), and are caused by small cracks (called heat checks) that develop in the casting die over time. They do NOT affect the function or durability of the part. They are not a problem at all, so rest easy!

Thank you TransEngineer for your response. I was referring to the raised edges. Its good to know that those are normal and that my transmission is still going strong.

Crying shame the dorks at the dealership didn't know what the heck they were looking at.................some folks go through life without paying the slightest of attention.
