Problem has existed since new, but happens so infrequently that it is hard to nail down. On occasion, engine will just seemingly stall...then recover after about 1-3 seconds. Has happened about 6 times since I bought the truck new in 2011. (Only has 40K miles on it - use it only for pulling my RV.) Dealer has no clue, says there are no TSB's on the subject and would not know where to start. Has anyone else on this forum had this problem or do I have the only truck with this problem ?

My 14 has done it a cpl times...I only notice when in slow traffic and I hit the pedal to switch lanes...No reaction from the engine for a second or two, then takes off..But like you said, mine has only done it very few times as well

My 2012 did it for 120,000 miles, no codes, finally after deleting it, a code popped up.
Had to replace the turbo. Yours is dirty with carbon and the variable vanes stick. Maybe
a cleaning will help. Get it done before warranty runs out. They claim cost was over
three grand.

I would guess your vanes a sticking. I always tell my cystomers to use their exhaust brakes every time the drive and to avoid idleing. If you have to idle use the cruise control high idle.

Take a read.

Some folks even have this happen on the older trucks due to driving habits. I've learned to avoid the dead pedal. Basically, these trucks programming doesn't like constant, in and out of the throttle. I've heard stories about it being a programmed in "safety mechanism" and also "torque management".............YMMV.

And no, you aren't the only one. Lot's of people complain, Ram chooses NOT to do anything about it.

If you are moving slow, like in a parking lot with a 2015, and just bump the accelerator, it can start "loping" (accel and decel) on it's on. Nothing radical but I have learned not to do that. The parking lot where I work is on a fairly good incline angle. I would bump the throttle to start moving up the hill and that's when mine would start loping. Now I just give it steady throttle and have not had it happen since. I talked to the dealer this morning and he said that one other owner of a 2015 had mentioned it to him but they don't have a solution yet. Apparently Ram is aware of it and are looking at the issue. If I am steady on the throttle it doesn't do it and otherwise there is not hesitation. Since the truck past the 3500 mile mark, it has plenty of acceleration. Before 3500 miles it was very sluggish and I thought it had issues. I did my first tow (about 8,000 lbs) at around 3400 and it really woke my engine up. The OPs hesitation does sound like the turbo is not spooling up properly. That will certainly cause hesitation and sluggish operation.
