I have a 2011 3500 dually 4X4 Crew cab 8' bed. It has 18,000 mi, most all interstate towing a 5W. Twice in the last two weeks I have hit a rough spot in the road and have experienced what has to be the "death wobble" I've checked and don't see anything loose in any of the linkage. Truck just went out of warrantee in Jan. Dealer says he thinks it's probably the steering stabilizer. The first time it happened I about wrecked. Speed was around 55MPH both times this has happened. This shaking sure felt like more than a bad shock on the steering. I thought the 2011's had the death wobble problems fixed?? Should I settle on a new steering shock ???

Death wobble is alive and well in 4th gens and even the new Ferds too. I'd put money on the stabilizer shock also as everything else has been significantly upgraded over the years.

I'd recommend a dual steering stabilizer too, especially if you are footing the bill.

I would check your toe-in, it is probably real close to dead center which is good for brand new components. However, as the new wears off along with the preload you will need more toe-in, that will pre load the tires slightly.

Any vehicle can get DW, solid axles are just far more prone. The stock steering stabilizers are actually pretty good, I doubt that would be the issue, and if you do dual steering stabilizers make sure they are not emulsion, otherwise your better off with the stock one. Id suspect alignment or tires over the steering stab

Not sure how you got on because your post was a while ago, but you can find a huge amount of info here. Not so much the Carli advert in post 1, as the very detailed discussion by mtplanman in post #2, including his first video which I as an absolute newbie found a great overview of our suspensions, even though it's of a Jeep

Hope you got/get it sorted.

PS am I allowed to post links to another forum?!
