I finally traded the Y-2k after 206,000 miles. It has been the best truck I ever had, hauling a heavy 24 ft. trailer through 3 cross country moves in the military before I retired. I couldn't pass up the extraordinary deal my local dealer threw at me, so I traded. This new truck is awsome! I have always had manual transmissions and never thought that I would get an auto. It's a different experience for sure, but I'm wondering why I never did this before. The auto is effortless with the trailer and the power is addictive. The technology from '02 to now is unbelievable. Anyway, I'm very happy with the truck and look forward to modifying it to suit me..... :)

Welcome to the 4th gen! I also always had manuals, but am impressed with my new slush box, though I still miss the shifting sometimes.
Enjoy the new ride!

Yep, I moved to a 4th gen from a 2002 HO/6-speed. As the Brits say, the trucks are as different as chalk and cheese. Love the 2011, but I loved the 2002 as well.

Anybody know how to replace Head light bulbs on a 2011 3500 ??? I'm guessin remove grill ??? Just Got my 2011 3500 4x4 Laramie Cherry with silver lower LOADED auto AWESOME , there in no comparason to my 1997 !!!!

Ok I looked at this and I can't find any screws ???I think you have the other truck ? I have a new 2011 3500 HD ?? Squared off frt end NOT the one on the cover of Issue 70. HMMMM ??? It looks like I have to take grill off and there is some plastic clips on the hdlt hsg ???

This worked for me. It seems like I was able to do it whithout steps 1-4, you can work the headlight around and get it out, but I may be wrong - it's been awhile.

You have to remove the entire lamp assembly to change the bulbs.

1. ) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

2. ) Romove the four plastic push- fastenersthat secure teh upper radiator seal to the grille support and both fender ledges.

3. ) Remove the two plastic push-pin rivets that secure the upper radiator seal to the radiator

4. ) Remove the upper radiator seal from the vehicle. (steps 2 thru 4 are just how to remove the plastic cover between the radiator and grille)

It is not necessary to remove the grille from the front of the vehicle to service the front lamp units.

5. ) Remove the screw that secures the upper mounting tab of the front lamp unit to the Front End Module (FEM) carrier (also known as the radiator closure).

6. ) Using a socket with a magnetic insert or with a small piece of butyl tape inserted, (I used a telescoping magnet once the screw was loosend I touched the magnet to the screw before removing the socket, this made it easy to retrieve the screw) reach down between the grille and the FEM carrier to access, remove and retrieve the screw that secures the lower mounting tab of the front lamp.

7. ) Remove the fastener that secures the tab at the bottom of the access panel to the front of the front wheel house splash shield (inner plastic fender liner)

8. ) Reach through the access opening of the wheel house splash shield and lift the slide lock upward (if you shine a flash light inside the opening you will see a white piece of plastic, this is the slide lock they are refering to) far enough to disengage it from the lock post integral to the back of the front lamp housing.

9. ) From the front of the vehicle, grasp the outboard edge of teh front lamp unit firmly and pull it straight forward to disengage the ball stud from the plastic grommet in the FEM carrier. (I thought for sure I was going to break something at this step, instead of pulling from the front I place one hand in front of the assembly and reached inside the access panel and pushed the light forward to disengage it from the ball stud. )

10. ) Pull the lamp away from the front of the vehicle far enough to access and disconnect the bulbs. (most already know how to remove the bulb from the lamp assembly)

I was looking through the owners manual yesterday and it said the lamps can be changed through an access hole on the back side. I haven't looked at it yet. I would think the fender liner has to come out to do that.

The owners manual gives the complete instructions and I saw a note near the end talking about the access hole.

C. Marik, there are little plastic access doors in the front of the fenderwells just forward of the wheels that allows access to the bulb sockets.

That is for the Pk and TS, and the "White" plastic clip is for removing the lamp asmb ,end result is that there are TWO 10mm bolts that hold the whole light asmb in place, you CAN get at these with long extensions and a magnet then the whole light comes OH yeh when you remove the two bolts for the light then you go under fender by the little acess door and slide the white clip that frees up the far outside of light. and there are two, about 2 1/2"dia caps that screw off and you can acess bulb. What I did was buy the "Geno's Garage" Grill removal kit 10 min install and remove the grill 30 sec !!!!And changed all my bulbs with the Sylvania SS Ultra !!! Works great ! I didn't find diddle in owners man. .
