I 'Built My Own' 2011 on the Dodge website and had everything just the way I wanted it, color, options, the whole thing, including my choice of navigation system, which was the 730N (RER). Then I talked to my real-life salesperson and told him that's the way I wanted my truck built and he said fine.
Then he got on his computer and started building the truck the way I specified, and he said " We've got a problem". He then explained that Dodge no longer offers the 730N radio/navigation system [code RER], but that the 430N system [code RHB] was almost the same thing and it only cost half as much as the RER system. The RER is $800 sticker and $680 dealer cost versis the RHB at $400 sticker and $340 dealer cost. By the way, this is effective today, October 8, 2010.
The two may be "similar", but there HAS to be sometning different between the two units for Dodge to be selling the RHR for twice the cost of the RHB.
There has to be something that the RER has or can do that is better than the RHB. I cannot believe that Dodge would offer two almost identical units for much different prices just to see how any people would pay for the more expensive one. I'm old enough to be pretty certain that you generally get what you pay for.
Does anybody out there have any explanation as to what the difference is or why one is twice the cost of the other? Anybody with operating experience with either (or both) systems to be able to provide some sense to what Dodge (RAM) was doing?
HELP!!!!
