Hey guys I am looking for exhaust temp gauge in my EVIC and don't think there is one there. Ram did such a fantastic job including the readings that in the past I had to installed after market gauges for. My problem now is where is the exhaust temp in the EVIC?? If there is no reading for exhaust temps in the EVIC can anyone point me in the right direction for a good single after market gauge for the 6. 7? I appreciate any help you can give me, I love this truck 385 HP and 850 foot pounds of torque from a stock Cummins!! Whao Hoo!!Oo.

Unfortunately you have no EGT reading in your EVIC. For whatever reason all the truck makers don't include it...

As for adding and EGT probe, I HIGHLY recommend getting the Edge CTS monitor. You can monitor pretty much anything that you want to. Plus you can add Edge sensors so you can monitor things like Real Engine Oil Pressure, L. P. fuel pressure etc that the EVIC doesn't monitor...

Geno's can sell you a conventional egt gauge, but you will have to run the wires, connect to electric wires in the truck, drill the manifold and tap. . . or get the Edge Insight CTS and plug it into the diagnostic port under th dash. Ram monitors egt but doesn't let us look at it.

is there a way to make suggestions to the folks at Ram about additions to future product releases??

I just took delivery of a 2013 and have logged close to 600 miles behind the wheel and though the truck is fantastic and a huge upgrade over my 2002 and my 2006 I think there are a few items that could easily be added to add more functionality for the end user...

I did strongly recommend to the Ram marketing manager and engineers that they let us see the egt as one of the user selected gauges. I also asked for a real fuel cap.

both great suggestions...

I was also thinking add the ability monitor DPF load and to do a forced regen and here's my reasoning... I do a lot of commuting with city driving (I can hear the teeth grinding but it's my truck and I understand the ramifications) and it would be nice force a regen when you know you're going to be on a long haul on open road... i. e. , coming back from a long road trip (unloaded) and I know I'm going to put the next several hundred miles on in combined mileage it would be nice to force a regen and start my work week with a 'clean' DPF.

How about let the end user update the tire size/odometer... could even tie it in to the onboard nav for equipped trucks(i assume it has some sort of onbarod gps).

DEF should have a DTE gauge like fuel level does...

electronic range select on the steering wheel instead of gear selector...

daytime running lamps on USA trucks... maybe there's a way to activate this already... my insurance gives a rate discount for DRL's

signal lamps on the exterior mirrors should come on with the parking lamps...

Just thought of another one... end user should be able to set default exhaust brake setting on start-up...

I also would like the exhaust brake to be switchable to defalt on with the engine startup. I assume that it is defalt off with engine start for liability issues, IE icy roads and the possibility of a skid with the brake on. The gear selector paddle NEEDS TO BE ON THE STEERING WHEEL, I would gladly move the radio controll to the dash and have the gear paddle on the steering wheel.

DRL's can be turned on by your dealer with their Star tool.

We can get the Scan tool put on our trucks free at May Madness. The 3500 SRW comes with 33" tires stock and I think that might be big enough for most of us. From what I have read and seen so far, the DEF isn't used fast at all, and I don't know if regen could be forced if there isn't much heat in the exhaust. I asked Cummins to come to the next May Madness and those would be good questions to bring up to them and to the Ram people.

Joe,

Where is the OEM EGT probe at?

Did you get any info on what it's used for, and if it's used to limit power what temp?

afaik 1500 deg. has been the Cummins max since 2004. 5 and the probe (goes into the side of the manifold near #4) would signal the ECM to defuel if egt's exceed that number.

That's where I was thinking it was on older stock trucks but I was thinking the 2013's would run cooler with SCR and the ability to increase the timing back up.

I rode in a friend and fellow TDR member's truck a few months ago. He has one of those cute little Edge boxes on his dash. With the afternoon sun behind us neither of us could read a single bit of data off that silly little toy gauge.

Personally I would not install a free Edge Insight in my truck. I like good old-fashioned (like me) analog gauges with large, round, easily readable dials and a big red pointer indicating the data.

I also would like the exhaust brake to be switchable to defalt on with the engine startup. They could easily move cruise control to a separate stick like on my wife's Camry or dozens of other vehicles... Or just cram gear selection onto the current steering wheel.

I would just drive it and not worry about it. " It can't hurt it's self" is what I was told by the West Coast Head warranty Rep from Chrysler at May Madness.
