2013 Drivers side replacement mirror

Smashed the drivers side mirror the other day and short of "giving" the dealer $560 for a new replacement, is the only difference in the one Geno's offers it doesn't have the temperature sending unit built in ?
Can I not remove the temp unit and modify the new mirror to accept it ?

Any help and assistance is always appreciated.

BTW, love the 2013 CTD, over my old 2002 CTD
