What is the width of the Alcoa 17" DRW wheels for a 13?

Reason for asking is a friend wants a bit wider tire than stock. Discount said his wheels are 6" and too narrow for I think the size was LT 265/70 R17.

they are 6x17. You can get wider fronts and outers in the aftermarket but I haven't found any wider 17" inners. I've only been able to find in 19.5 and 20.

Discount tire is also super strict about what tires they put on what wheels, another shop will likely mount them without question.

He does not want to increase the tire diameter as he has 3.42's with AISIN and tows like me at 34k combined.

So since it'a a 6" rim is there a tire that is the similar diameter and wider than stock that will still be okay with the stock rim?

I am guessing he is stuck!

He will not find a wider but same height tire that works well with the OEM rim.

There are some offerings in LT245/75R17 that should work, but they are slightly shorter than OEM.

Thanks, GS.

The site I looked at had the stock at 31.8" high 9.3" wide and the 245/75's at 31.5" high 9.6" wide. The Continentals he is looking at are .5" wider.

I am betting Discount tire will say they are too wide for the 6" rim.

I assume you had no wear issues going to that wider tire?

No issues at all. Since the Firestone HT’s were OE in LT245/75R17 on the DRW F-350’s...I’m now curious as to what size wheels the F-350’s used. I’ll bet they’re 6” in width also.
