I was glad the local dealer took care of it without any hassles and my truck drives like new again. BUT at 31,000 miles it was a little disappointing to have to have this done. Just the passenger side ball joints had to be done. I assume its not a problem that will come up every 30K or that would really be a PITA. Is mine a rare thing or are these trucks still having front end issues like the older ones ?
Even with this issue I still would not own any other truck , I love my truck and feel fortunate to have a such a awesome vehicle !

The Axle is still the same, the trucks get heavier with every build year.
So yes the lifetime of the balljoints gets shorter and shorter.

After warranty go with something better (pricy) or change often.

The 3500 front axle housing is not the same as pre 2013. It appears to be much more robust in build.Just had new tires and wheel alignment check on 13.5 DRW 4x4 with 70K miles(some of that with a plow on) and no issues.

Huge tires and wheels with non-stock offset (more toward the outside generally) greatly increase the load on ball joints, hub bearings, etc.
