Here's some pics from the 2014 NFR in Vegas from round 7. The 3rd Division Marine Aircraft Wing band gave us a tearful, yet extremely proud presentation.

Tonight's round 10 but we'll be watching from the motel and headed to South Point later for the buckle presentations. Having too much fun,....my liver needs a break when I get home.

My wife and I used to attend the NFR when it was held in Oklahoma City, but we've never attended the NFR in Vegas. We record each night's show on our DVR and watch it the next evening since the live TV broadcast is too late for us.

I didn't Rvtrkn. All they had was a Hemi mega cab, CCLB DRW 6.7, some goofy looking tricked out offroad Ram and the weatherguard giveaway Ram. I thought it looked goofy to.

At Thomas & Mack, there was some other Rams on display but I only saw them passing by. Once we get off the bus, we high tail to our seats inside.

Jealous! I went a few times to the bucking horse sale as a contestant when I was 19 and 20 and then I was lucky enough to have a friend competing in the NFR a couple times and got to go see him. It was a blast and would have loved to have gone with my wife this year.....and every year! I love all the cowboy christmas and trade show and the whole 9 yards. We actually have a small leather business now and have talked about trying to build enough inventory to justify getting a booth out there but with my vocation I don't think that will be possible.
Vegas is always fun but NFR time really makes you feel like the town is yours.

I work with leather myself, and have custom made projects & belts & wallets, but I find that the amount of time hand tooling them is not worth what people are willing to pay for them. The machine stamped product is not what I like, if I were to buy something like what I've made. Good luck with your business, and post a few examples, if you don't mind.

Dodge and B&W were displayed at the same time in the same location, I'll assume you didn't see a B&W display.

Well I'm back home and nursing my liver after 6+ hour drive home. We talk about flying but we'd only save roughly 45 minutes and would be a pain trying to get all the Christmas gifts that we buy back home. The long drive also give my wife and I some time to catch up without the kids so it's not too bad actually.

Rvtrkn, I saw the B&W booth but it wasn't a gigantic display or anything like that. But then again, I could have totally missed it; so much to see.

I was hoping to meet up with Bignasty and Penny but they didn't respond to my PM's. Oh well, maybe next year if they go; we'll be there.

Ahh the NFR. I went 2 yrs ago and it was a ball. I would have liked to have made it this year, but now we will try for next year. It is a great time and I came home broke! I guess that isn't to hard when you show up broke, I didn't have anything to lose. I also work with leather. I build cowboy boots in my spare time. Not much money in it but it sure is fun.

Wyomingcowboy, your leather tooling is awesome, I loved the picture with someone, I'll assume you or Sarah, sitting on the hand tooled saddle and wearing the chinks. If you ever have a booth/show in SoCal, please PM me, I'd love to see your leather tooling in person.

Thanks! I didn't make the saddle though. I made leather for the pad it sits on. I would like to build a saddle someday but I'm slowly building my tools and that's just too much for now. Have you ever been to any of the leather trade shows? They have a big one in Prescott and or Wickenburg and in Pendleton that I would love to go to. There is one in Sheridan at the end of may that I went to a few years ago and am always looking to go back. We'll have a brand new baby around May 1 though so I'm sure I'll miss it again this year.

That's my Birthday, May 1.
I've never been to any shows, and I have taught myself, so I too am limited in what I can do also. My best work is when I transfer Logos onto leather and then tool that into belt buckles and wallets for companies I've worked for. One year I made belts for all the employees with our Company Logo on a belt buckle and mission statement around the belt. If the show is in Wickenburg Arizona I may have to go to that one.

I am self taught as well - started with a Tandy starter pack way back in middle school! The shows are pretty cool. There are classes offered by a lot of good hands. Bob Park from Phoenix is one and Chan Geer from Sheridan is another. But just to go see that many craftsmen in one place is a fun experience. Plus several big supply outfits bring their stuff and offer discounts, etc. Do you have a brand of tools that you prefer? There are several good makers out there but I am finding Barry King to have some of the best deals around. They are top quality but not as much $$ as the Jueschke or Horseshoe brand.

x2

I don't have any need for horse stuff, but you guys have a nice website and business. Looking good!

WyomingCowboy,
Do you have any more pictures of the belts you make? All the belts I see at the local stores are made of "chinesium"......
PM me

Just finished this iPhone pouch for my belt. I didn't tool it, I need it for work tomorrow, so I cut it out and laced it in a hurry.
