I am about to go and look at a 2014 Ram 2500 6.7 automatic. Are there any known problems that I should be looking for before pulling the trigger. It has 49k miles and they are asking 34k. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bobby

It could be perfect or a lemon or anything in between. If you are not sure what to look for take it to a qualified diesel mechanic and pay him to go over it.

Verify if your truck was part of the R46 recall. Additionally---go to the RAM website and enter your VIN for any incomplete TSB's or recalls. Verify that factory warranty is eligible for transfer.

Thank you very much... This is the kind of information I was looking for. :)

HOLY BATMAN..... Recalls that have been completed. R46, R36, R23, P26, P15. S87 has not been completed. That is a lot of recalls and kind of scary.

Just for the heck of it, tell him how mortified you are....:eek:and show that to the salesman and see how close he can get to that price on a leftover 2016 or 2017......

For about $7k more you can buy a brand new Tradesman with 0 miles and full warranty.
I think with the competitive pricing on new trucks, it's not worth it to buy used.

Trust me, that has crossed my mind. Its closer to 10k and I don't want to stretch my budget that thin. I am only willing to pay out the door 31,500 for this truck. We are in negotiations now.

Good luck.....good news that most of the recalls have already been done.

Take it for a long ride on the highway and make sure that it don't shake and vibrate. A known issue. Have them pull the past maintance history and see what was worked on.

In Cali it is not legal to sell a vehicle with safety or emission recalls incomplete.I would hope all states are the same

I had a 2014 2500 4WD CC, but it was the 6.4L Hemi. Still, the rear suspension drove me (and the dealer crazy). Always a rear squeak, rattle, or noise of some kind. I think I had the rear swaybar links replaced at least 3 times and two of the rear control arms as well. Mine was an early build and I only kept it for 8 months due to other issues (6.4 sucks). Oh, and my front axle was "positively cambered" resulting in it burning through tires in 4 months. New design, new problems.

300 to 500 engine rpm flare when the transmission shifts , in mine it's the 3rd to 4th gear shift. Response from dealer will be "they all do that". Putting it in tow/haul does not change the super lazy shift. Dead pedal is also real annoying.

Kenny

I just had a battery go so on me, and after they replaced the batteries, they updated my pcm and acm, no that dead pedal is gone and the Lazy shift, is gone also, might want to talk to your dealer and have the reflash done, it sure helped mine

My 2014 Ram 3500 6.7 has been a little frustrating to say the least. I have 38,715 miles on mine and have had 2 bad axle seals, sat radio quit working, rear door lock quit working, had a def failure countdown happen and they replaced a bad plug and wires, had a nox sensor go bad a week after the def problem and got it replaced and a software update to the system as part of some recall. I am sure I forgot something.

Thanks to everyone for all the responses. I don't think this deal is going to go through. They don't want to budge on the price even with a safety recall pending. I am still in the market and will use all these hints and tips moving forward.
