Attention: TDR Forum Junkies Hello TDR Audience! On Friday, June 6, we were fortunate to have the folks at Ram host our TDR members for a plant tour at the Warren Road (Detroit area) truck assembly plant. We had been to Warren Road back in 2013. This time our visit would have more meaning as the 1500 EcoDiesel is assembled at Warren Road.
For the tour, we were again seated on golf carts due to the size of the plant (close to a mile long, 24.2 million sq/ft, 32 miles of conveyors). They gave us a full tour including welding, interior assembly, frame assembly, engine assembly, body integration, etc. The only things we could not see were the paint department and panel stamping. Just beyond amazing at a plant of this size.
On hand for the tour were several of Chrysler’s media people. They will be doing an article for their internal communications.
The following day, we saw about half of the tour Warren Plant tour attendees stay for the CEMA (Chrysler Employee) car show at Chrysler HQ. About 500 specialty Chrysler and about 100 non-Chrysler vehicles were on display. Weather was beautiful. Just an amazing day!
