My 2015 3500 is saying my trailer isn't connected. All lights and turn signals work, but brakes do not. The F11 (30amp) fuse is good. I have power at the pin connector at the controller but I have nothing at pins where the fuse is plugged in.
Does power go to the controller first then through the fuse to the trailer harness?
Any ideas on where to look? I have a 1,100 mile trip on Wednesday and I'd hate to pull the trailer loaded that far without brakes

make sure the connection is clean and good,.. I've had issues before with pins not making good contact on older trailers, but as mentioned, last time I was having issues with the "no brake" it we the cord on the trailer side, replaced it on my 5r.... no more problems.

The only times I’ve had this issue was when I borrowed a friends trailer. His dogs like to chew his wires going to the brakes. It’s happened twice, once after I’d pulled it for 300 miles with the brakes working. I’ve learned to carry my crimping pliers and some butt connectors when I use his trailer.

Trailer 7 way plug, is it the duck bill contact style or a flat blade contact?

Do you have a different trailer to hook to and test or a different truck to hook to trailer and test?

Got a multimeter?

Plugged another trailer in and it worked so it's in the trailer somewhere. I'll start by replacing the trailer connector. It seems looser than the one that worked

My recommendation if replacing the plug is a flat blade style. The flat blade forces the V inside the receptacle to compress and wipe across the flat blade and gives good contact.

I just replaced an OE Bargman duck bill type on an Airstream recently. I had the owner insert the plug into her Toyota fully but hold the cover off of the plug not locking it in. Then she pulled the plug out. It just fell out with no resistance, no bite, no grip no workie.

A few years back, if I remember right....o_O there was a tsb for this....assuming it's not a trailer issue. I had this issue but don't remember if it was my lemon 2014 truck or my 2016. I can check tonight to see if is mentioned on a work order as I think I had it done. Also, try plugging in the trailer with the truck running as see if that helps.....

That file is in my collection.

And my .02 on plugs is here https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/7-way-connection-observations.270560/ After I wrote this I rolled up my sleeves and actually tried to wire up the Hopkins 48510. It is a PITA to wire due to their "ergonomic" style and I'm not afraid of 12V wiring. The Pollak metal housing is a good performer.

Funny, I just spent over an hour wiring up the same one. I still had a very dim test light at the trailer brake wire connection in the battery box. Once I used the battery negative it was bright and my trailer popped up on the dash display. Looks like a weak ground somewhere on the trailer brakes. Wouldn't think it's a magnet issue since the trailer has maybe 5,000 miles on it.
