2015 4 Wheel Drive not Currently Available

Several times a day when shifting from park to drive or reverse to drive I get a message, 4 Wheel Drive not currently available and the selector indicator letters turn a greenish Yellow.
If I move the selector up toward neutral, then back to drive it usually clears it. Sometimes, the transmission will go to drive with the selector indicator still greenish. At that point it will not clear short of a shutdown and restart.
I observed it several times today and in all cases I was completely stationary with foot firmly on brake.
It seems related to how fast I move the selector.

I have found I can make it happen. If I pull it out of park and just push straight down to drive, it isn’t available. If I move it more deliberately, click, click, click, it is good all the time.

Seems silly and as bad as dead pedal cause if you back up quick, then need to go and move the lever too fast, you are sitting in traffic and not in gear.

Wonder if there is a fix?
