I have an 03 and love it. My 10K Artic Fox 5th gives it a run for its money even with a Smarty set at tow mode. I was thinking of going with a 2015 but want to know the diff between the 2014 and 15 as you understand it. Is this a good time or is a new model year coming soon? I love air ride suspension but the 3500 dosent have it? and.....I really want the Asin (? sp) transmission with the higher output motor and is that only offered in the 3500 as well. That would mean trade perhaps a more versatile suspension for the motor/transmission

A 14 or 15 2500 will handle 10K like its not there. I pull 17K with my2013 2500 and she always willing to do more. I have a leaf suspension with air bags. I'd love to have the Aisin, but read some post about the vibrations they are getting with them before you go there since your only pulling 10K.

The 2014 might be your best deal with close-outs going on now..if you're not going to go heavier with a 5er later down the road, the 2500 will be more than enough. The 68RFE is also a great transmission. If you're thinking of moving up to a heavier 5er, opt for the 3500 and save money down the road...I have 20,400 miles on my truck with the Aisin transmission and have had zero issues with my truck and no vibrations spoken of above. Great medium duty transmission strapped to a medium duty Cummins diesel..doesn't get much better than that:)

Just got a call from my dealer. They claim Air Suspension on the 3500 dually will be available Oct 1st.
For what ever that's worth! I've been waiting 10 months already!

To my understanding the only difference from 14-15 is in the 3500's with the Aisin which is a 15lb bump in tq from 850 to 865lbs. Other than that there is no difference between the 2500's and 3500's from 14-15.

I would wait and get a 2015 3500 just to get the extra 15lb bump in torque. I'll bet it will run circles around the 2014 with only 850 lbs of torque!!

15 pounds add torque may get you at most 2 mph faster you are
n't going to run circles around any 14 and if you got more stuff you may be right behind me

Good to see you over here NC Hauler! Lots of us are on both forums. A little tamer here most of the time. But just as informative. Ken Irwin

Thank you Chris, new to this forum, but been on the Cummins forum and rv.net with same NC Hauler tag for a while...Got some buddies on this forum and hope to make more. Again, thanks for the welcome.:)

Hey Stab...

Did he say which year? <G> I thought it was going to be on my early '14, ordered in '13. Doesn't matter all that much, truck still is a keeper!

Good question!! My dealer said "It's built, waiting in storage". (code D) Makes me wonder why....I'm thinking it's waiting on a rail car for shipment but who knows!

I just ordered a fully optioned 2015 Big Horn 3500 4x4 3:42 Aisin with RASS.

After notifying Customer Assistance (VOTS), I received the VIN the following day. No telling when it will show up.

Ken, thought I'd give the RASS a real work out on my off road "ranch trails". I rode in a neighbors one ton ranch truck retrofitted with aftermarket air bags. Big improvement in ride and with trailers behind. Hope RAM can deliver the same in both on and off road conditions.

My understanding is the 3500 set up is different than the 2500.

If and when it arrives, I'll post the experience.

Update: Dealer called after me inquiring earlier on status of my truck still in storage in MX: "Waiting on a fuel tank"!
This is on a built Mega Laramie Longhorn Dually with rear air ride suspension. "Maybe before Christmas"!
Wow! That's the last thing I would have guessed as being the hold up! They claim EVERYTHING else is built besides the tank..........

Looking forward to a great review on air ride!
