Changed both fuel filters today. Taking my time, it took about 1/2 hour. Super easy compared to my '95 with 4 wheel ABS. Spilled maybe 2 drops of fuel during the procedure and saved about $200.compared to dealer.

Used a chain strap on the frame mounted filter and a 1 1/8" filter hex socket for the engine filter. Large channel locks were used to remove water in fuel probe.
Plenty of room to work. Cycled the key fob from off to run 4 times for 5 seconds each time and it started as usual.

A few stats:
Total miles on truck and fuel filters: 12,540
% filter life remaining: 16
Total trailer miles with 10,500# 5th wheel: 7229 (about 1/2 in 100+ degrees)
Total idle time: 27 hours
Total drive hours: 289
Total engine hours: 316
DEF added: approx. 17.5 Gal.
Fuel consumption is about 12.8 with trailer (63 mph) and 21.1 without trailer (75 mph)

The engine mounted filter can be a challenge to get the nut loose. From what I have read that reliving the fuel pressure thru the drain is said to help.

Draining the housing prior to removing the top is part of the procedure. Without draining, I'm sure you would made a big mess. I drained each filter for about 2 minutes and only spilled maybe 2 drops from the rear filter and spilled nothing from the engine mounted filter.

I suggest using a torque wrench on the engine mounted filter, mostly because of the plastic construction of the filter.
