2015 New Cabin Air filter, blower Motor cutting out now

Just installed new Genos cabin filter kit with napa carbon Cabin filter, now i have a intermittant blower fan operation .

dealer installed new blower head control module,knobs and control face?. drove it bout 3 miles and it worked a little while

Blower starts cutting out over bumpy road then today it just cuts out sitting in driveway comes on then off again. likes its struggling to blow

checked electrical connectors looks tight, blower motor connector tight,

Any thoughts and suggestions as to the fix?

back to the dealer again next week , intermittent blower ,no ac and 106 outside?

Is the new cabin filter causing a restriction or the blower to malfunction?

any thoughts or suggestions this truck is like new 20 k miles shouldnt be having issues

new hub bearings installed this week got rid of rattle and noises off left front ,had failed finally repaired got lucky it didnt destroy anything.

You probanly already checked. But did the door fall off of the opening where the filter goes? That happened to me once and the air was just blowing around inside the dash.

Those HVAC doors and tubes are too complex for my simple mind.

filter door was firmly seated on plenum box: OK

Napa Gold 4578 filter from genos seems like it was pinched in slot? tough fit into tight space,

Napa Gold 4579 Cabin Filter or OEM Mopar filter# is the correct fit , tomorrows quest

Same exact size filter but 4579 filter pleats run parallel to the slot opening not across

Same filter fits Mazda RX7 according to Napa/wix filter book

had some plastic casting flash behind housing front slot cut, that i trimmed away with hot knife behind exterior plenum slot cut out, as filter would not go into slot easily trimmed as needed to get door to snap in and filter to go into slot. doenst seem seat completly into slot

cant see the back of filter slot cavity for flash?

just pulled NAPA GOLD 4578 carbon impregnated cabin filter out "new from genos" kit,

Is this filter causing a negative pressure differential issue or restriction? could it have been pinched? in filter cutout slot?

these parts or kits r installed on many other trucks with no issues ?

is there a pressure switch or different blower motor number or a variation of ?

will road test today for cutting out issues?

AC Worked perfect all afternoon without filter while running to parts store asking questions?

Use a different PN# /Brand or Exact OEM Filter?
4579 comes in tomorrow will test asap

How did you cut the plastic? Sounds like you used a hot knife? Is there any chance some of the plastic fell into the duct and into the fan motor?

Actually the hot knife method worked perfect utility knife heated with propane torch,

i did lightly score surface cutout with fresh blade to ensure a smooth even edge then worked blade around groove then heated and made cut,
nothing fell in i trimmed right side end lightly to tight side to side
pulled flash off cut off by hand from hot knife ,easy

noticed 2 round nubs hanging down, maybe from injection molding behind front cutout as filter would not go in

heated blade again pushed thru and broke both nubs off into my hand ,cover snaps into place nicely sealed well

filter went in with some bending didnt seem to go all the way in easily

fired up AC worked well for a short time then blower seems to be struggling intermittently

HMM, lets back up ,blower working perfectly before filter install? YES

removed genos filter took it to oreilly no luck with PN# he saying it for a caravan?

went to NAPA ,seeing this was never installed in 2015 ram lets see if 4578 is a good number in the big book?
NOT, fits 10 thru 12 not 15 ram

Lets compare numbers visually same exact dimensions pleats r exactly 90 degrees opposite,

4578 pleats side to side left to right
4579 pleats r parelell front to back with opening
have newest filter sitting in box on counter to test asap
will call genos to ask them this exact question after testing
blowing perfect without filter nonstop now

this has been TMI for such a seemingly simple procedure,

will post results

Heated blade trimmed again broke off 2 nubs into fingers, put a small rag in plenum hole to try to catch debris

might be two more nubs in the back cant see em without a mirror,

back to Napa to compare, pulled a real paper filter number book out on counter ,Old School PN# lookup,

Will install Napa 4579 ASAP looks just like a oem filter ? and test again ,

drove the car today to town,

so beyond normal short test drive, it is sitting in the driveway for the moment

I purchased the Genos kit about two weeks ago. I installed it last weekend and haven’t driven the truck since. While putting the filter in, it did not fit correctly, it was too big. I turned the filter 90 degrees and it fit kind of better, but still not right.

I did the kit on my 2013 right away I noticed a huge reduction in the air flow through the heater and Ac system. It was so much of a reduction that the Ac would barely keep up on hot sunny days. After a year and two new filters I pulled the filter and gave up. The Air filters don't allow enough air flow. I've been looking for a filter like the one on the air handler, free flowing, in my house but have yet to find one. I just want to catch the cats dogs leaves and dust. I don't need a HEPA filter on my Ac system.

napa 4579 working well seems to be doing the job no issues
thoose little round casting nubs wouldnt let mine fit in slot at all till i trimmed em back then widened right side opening cartefull till it fit in even with cutout

NAPA 4579 cabin Air filter for 2015 2500 Longhorn ,

has been filtering cabin Air fine, cabin filter working fine since jul of 18 no issues,

Genos was gonna send me a new replacement one this week ,4578 said no dont send it,

i looked up PN today want exact one that is working in here today, not the carbon one, to restrictive possibly

oem filter looks identical to 4579 napa slid right in works fine, issue solved
