Consumer Reports has reported that the 2015 Ram 2500 is the worst of the big three. Hard for me to believe, I have a 2014 Ram 2500 not a bit of trouble. Why would the 2015 have so much more trouble. In fact they listed most of FC vehicles as below average, some bias there I think or could I be in for a nasty surprise in the future.

Consumer reports is like the BBB for us business owners. All it takes is money to improve their view of you. I stopped putting any faith in Consumer Reports 15 years ago.

I've read cr for 40+ years never have I seen any mopar get a good rating. Use to think they were ok because they didn't accept advertising. Don't know if they can be trusted for anything beyond how loud a vacuum sweeper is . I'd have to question that anymore.

Cheers

I guess ignorance is bliss, I had no idea my 2015 Ram was such a piece of junk! I don't put much stock in those reports, they seem pretty stupid to me. My 2015 has been trouble free. I've had a couple "recalls", but nothing that has been an inconvenience at all. Mostly just computer flashes to tweak something. I currently am due for the SCR recall, but they haven't mailed me anything and I haven't had any problems at all with the truck.

Now, full disclaimer, I use my truck like a truck most of the time. Infrequent short trips, I tow at least 15-20 times a year, I get EGT's up when I drive and I occasionally mash the go pedal. No problems.

My 15 has been perfect. Had they said the 14 was the worst i would have been more able to believe. LOL. It probably just is the number of times a truck goes in for anything including flashes. Ford is probably at the top because all issues are the customers fault. Really, Consumer Reports is for profit. The highest ratings go to those most willing to pay the higher advertising and support costs.
Years ago i was in the BBB. I had a flawless rating. I had one complaint from a customer who i did not mesh with. She kept beating me up on price. When her bid expired unsigned i respectfully withdrew from consideration. So she reported me for not working for her. The BBB called and said her report would not hurt my rating and be removed from my report if i signed up for the next year. Well, that was the year i saw how the BBB worked. So if you think a rating reflects the company think again.

This^^^^! I have been involved in a few industries where their ratings were blatantly incorrect. I pay them no mind whatsoever. Maybe I have just been lucky, but both of my pickups have been darn good to me. GM and Ford were both a string of multiple disasters for me.

Personally I would NEVER go by what CR has to say on ANYTHING. I bet they don't separate the diesel with 68rfe from the gassers.

How many miles do you have on your '14?

CR is horrible at evaluating cars and trucks within the context of their intended purpose. For example, they will test a Chevy Suburban and give it high marks for room and towing capacity and then slam it for poor fuel economy and being difficult to park. Well, to get one you get the other. It also seems they consider minor reflashes and glitches to be the same as major mechanical problems. So, one brand with 3 or 4 minor glitches over two years time is rated worse than another brand that has a transmission failure in the same time but no other problems. I could be wrong but this is the impression that I get.

Ahhhh yes. Consumer Reports, the same outfit that said in the eighties that the Acura Integra was a very risky buy, and they felt that the Chevy Cavalier was a much safer bet........

Bought my new to me in April 2015 with 26k on it. Today it sits with 33k on the clock. My first diesel.

I truely hope yours turns out better than mine. Mine was great to around 30K miles. From 30K till now, 82K, it's been the worst vehicle I've ever owned.

What went so wrong?? So many 4th gen 2500 & 3500 on the road your statement is the first I've heard. I realize there are lemons in any brand.

Not surprising after reading TDR forums for years.....
Also note that their data comes from actual subscribers of their magazine who own the vehicles. I doubt diesel trucks are a popular item for their normal clientele.
We are subscribers for years and have never filled out the freaking long report for our vehicles....no problems so not angry enough to do it. LOL.
CR is a great magazine for when I want a new TV or phone.
For truck buying I go else where.
They love hybrids and electric vehicles, they hate trucks and think minivans are cool.
Enough said.

What went so wrong? It started with purchasing this truck! The shocks went out around 10K miles. It was so rough that my wife and son wouldn't even ride in the truck. Drivers seat electric motor was replaced twice, power mirrors quit working, door locks quit working, transmission leaked fluid and some exhaust gaskets blew out at sprayed soot all over under the hood. Truck would go into limp mode randomly limiting you to 7 mph. Not ideal when you're 100's of miles from home. This was all within 30K miles from new. From new till now, there have been two handfuls of sensors and harnesses replaced, some multiple times. Countless reflashes and/or updates that never seem to fix anything. The radio quit working and had to be replaced. The def system has been completely replaced. The transmission is leaking again and for about a month now, I get the exhaust filter 100% full messsge and mil light almost daily.

These are the problems I'm just pulling from memory, there might be more. While all of this has been covered under warranty, thank God I purchased an extended warranty, warranty does not cover my lost time from work or many ruined vacations from being stranded.

I would think a good lawyer and the lemon law would benefit you. That would be my next move.
