Like a dummy, I completely ignored the disclaimer at the top of Geno’s page on rear shocks saying that they don’t fit the cab/chassis trucks. The top bolt is a different size, for one, and they may be different lengths, I’m not sure. So I’ll be sending those back.

I looked for rear shocks on the shock warehouse website (suggested by the folks at Geno’s), and they don’t provide a category for 3500 c/c - just 4500 & 5500. The rear shocks (bilstien) that they show for all 3500 2wd are the same (incorrect) part number as the ones I got from Geno’s.

Has anyone gotten aftermarket shocks for their 4th gen 3500 cab/chassis? If so, who’s making them? Also, is it just the rears that are different? Geno’s does NOT give the same disclaimer about the front shocks - but those are on backorder & haven’t shipped yet, so I haven’t Ben able to compare. Geno’s parts manager said that it doesn’t say they’ll fit a cab/chassis, but it doesn’t say they won’t either (like it does for the rears). I’d like to put bilstiens on at least the front, if I can. And avoid the dealer$hip at all costs...

Just a couple of suggestions... take the part numbers off the OEM shocks and Google them to see if there are any cross references. If that doesn't work, measure them and research aftermarket using thos measurements. And, as much info avail, I would not buy it doesn't say it doesn't fit. If it doesn't say it fits, likely does not fit.

Sorry no better help, but last two trucks were 4500 and 5500, completely different animals.

Cheers, Ron

I went with Monroe for my replacement shocks on my 4500.

Here’s a screenshot with your part numbers.....

Thanks, everybody. I did some of that legwork today - called my local dealership & got the part # for my VIN, tried to cross reference that with part numbers for regular 3500 pickups, but the parts guy said there were dozens (dozens?!) of different part numbers for 3500 front shocks. Also went into NAPA, that parts guy first said their part #s were identical for cab/chassis and 3500 models. Then he dug a little deeper and changed his mind. Research on the Monroe site looks like the fronts ARE different for cab/chassis versus the regular 3500 models. Which means the Bilsteins I ordered will not work after all. From the Monroe spec page, the difference is the lower mounting system.

Loop Bushing& Sleeve Mount - 9/16" Sleeve ID X 1.5/8" Sleeve OAL for the cab/chassis
Loop Bushing& Sleeve Mount - 14MM Sleeve ID X 1.11/16" Sleeve OAL for the regular 3500 models.

all other specifications seem to be identical - compressed length, extended length, travel... give me a break, FCA.
oh well. Monroes it shall be.
