I am new here and Ive had my 2016 ram 2500 6.7 auto truck in twice for a oil temp issue. Each time they say they can't find anything wrong. But if im not towing the temps after about a ten mile trip go from 205 and drop down to 165 then start climbing back up only to drop back down to 165. I noticed if im on the freeway then go thru city traffic they seem to drop really fast but then go up to like 205 then back down to 165. The engine temp will be 197-203 the whole time. If im towing the temps are any where from 245-165 just keep going up and dropping back down. They did some update this last time,tsb18-015-17 but it hasn't done anything different. Does everybody else truck do this or what do you think could be the problem?

Your truck has no oil temp sender. It doesn’t actually know what the oil temp is. It uses an algorithm in the ecm to give a predicted or probable temp. The only problem you have is in the application of that algorithm. There’s nothing wrong with your truck. As a note, you posted this in the 911 section. This is for emergency only. Please post future questions like these in the 4th gen section.
