I recently drove a 2019 Laramie 1500 and mercy, the lights. I'd sure like to have something better than what I've got. I did a search, saw a few things. Anyone done an upgrade on a 2016 ? Are new bulbs worth the money or to get sure enough good lights would I have to go with new light fixtures ? My tired 71 year old eyes need all the help they can get after looking as sun on the water for 40 years.

Thanks

My truck is a third gen but I upgraded both my driving lights and fog lamps on my truck. I installed LED lamps that fit in the light housings of the truck. My older son had done this to several other Dodge/Ram trucks and his wife's Ford 1/2 ton grocery getter truck.

The LED lights use less energy than the standard bulb so, you need the proper LED light that is compatible with the RAM CAN-BUS wiring. This will include a driver and the light for each LED component. My set also needed to be clocked to provide the proper light orientation for driving and the cooling fins expanded. This is the brand of LED for the driving light!

There are other LED's out in the market place but this is what was recommended to me by my son!
I installed them last Jan 2019, and now have almost a full year of use on them. An boy they do make a difference in nighttime driving.
BTW I am 70 years young!

When I had my 18' 2500 Megacab, the first thing I did was upgrade all the lamps up front. I bought mine from online headlight revolution and it was worth every dollar spent. I did fogs, headlights and turn signal bulbs. Your better off spending a little more $$ for quality as some of these LED's can be cheap garbage. Here's a cut and paste from my invoice.....

Get a set of Laramie Lights if you really want more light on the road. Find some take offs on eBay.
Get other bulbs as a bandaid.

Good light costs money, that's one reason why lower trims are cheaper.

Oops... Correct that.. My 18' Laramie had the projector type headlights.... The tradesman has the standard type. Ozzy is correct.... You'd want to change out the entire assembly.

On my 18 Big Horn with the quad headlights I used Sealight S2 LED bulbs. They worked great on the H11 low beam. For the 9005 high beam I had to drill a new clocking hole at 90 degrees from the existing hole. Worked great once I clocked them correctly. Only thing I don't like is they are 6k and I prefer 4k.
