2017 Water pump does have a weep hole

Replaced the water pump on my 2017 and the old water pump does have a weep hole it is on the gasket surface side and weeps between the block and the pump.
That is the third hole and channel on the pump.
Or is this one that did not needed to be replaced?

yep, needed to be replaced...Concentric with no Vent hole...that is the bad one.

Yes that is the bad one. Mine looks like that and will be replaced.

How does fluid get past the gasket to weep?

Never mind...I got it.

an internal passage. The weep hole drains the other side of the seal. It lets you know if the seal is failing.

So there will still be a recall showing associated with your VIN #. No biggie i suppose.

Kind of like our Jetta there was a recall on the exhaust tips to be replaced by shorter ones. I just denied the recall and told them not to touch the exhaust tips.

Just got my spare pump from Geno's, vent hole but NO WEEP HOLE ?

FYI...I'm just keeping this as spare along with a spare belt...don't feel real confident that the replacement water pumps are long lasting.

I had 85459 miles on my recalled pump the service Tec said it was shot didn't understand why it wasn't leaking when he removed it. I'm happy I'll take a free water pump.

No doubt. I'm happy to get a water pump this month with zero miles on it. Going to have the recall taken care of in a couple of weeks.

I predict I'll be close to 42k on the old pump.

If we could do a simple clarification re cap. So, I may not have been notified of a recall? I need to check to see if I have a vent hole and if not then I probably need a new water pump and the new water pump would be from Italy and not have a weep hole seen internally by pics above. The link above did a good job of explaining the three different water pumps so I hope I followed correctly.
