Well, I have developed a dead miss at anything below 1050 to 1100 rpm. It smoothes out above this all the way to about 2450 to 2500 rpm. I noticed it yesterday sitting at a stop light. I was low on fuel (light NOT on) so I changed the fuel filter after filling up when I got home. Filter did not look very bad.

After filter change, it still had the miss. Cracked open all the inj. lines, no chnage. I have a set of 215 inj. but need to have them pop checked. Does anyone know what pressure they should be set at??? They are factory 1997 inj. off of a 5spd. truck.

Thanks, Jim

Jim,

The injectors should say the pressure on the side of them, guessing around 260 bar or 3800 psi.

Just a guess but your valves might need lapping or replacing. ??? Maybe i'm way off, just a thought though. Let us know what you find out either way,

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I appreciate it. I am dropping off the injectors at a local shop next week. They will set them at the factory spec for the 97 5sp truck.

They did not know if it would be better to raise or lower the pressure based on the fact that I only have a 160 hp. pump. I did a search but could not find any info on this particular subject (injectors from a 215 hp motor swapped into a 160 hp motor). I guess since no one else seems to have had issues with the above, I will be O. K. Again thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not as well versed in the P7100 as the VE

But I do know the delivery valves on the 160hp pumps were a limting factor on how much power could be had. I dont think it is causing your miss, but it is something to keep in mind as you plan your BOMBing.

If you had valve train problems, I'd be greatly surprised, though I guess it isnt impossible. If you have crud on the intake valves, you need to ditch the airfilter you have and upgrade. On my 91, after 250K, everything was within new specs when I replaced the head gasket. This truck had been run hard and hot, put up wet, and then it had two more owners before I got it. Still going strong.

I'd say leave the pop pressure the same as stock pop presure for your 94, which I think was also 260bar. THe reason being, if you increase the pop pressure, while you increase atomization slightly, you also effectively retard dynamic timing, which can lower MPGs, power, and cause smoke, rough running, etc, etc.

Hope this helps you out.
