Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 215 or 175

buying a truck for parts over the phone is cheap enough either way. but witch pump does it have build date is 7-95 on the door he says but older guy a he can't read the tag under the hood. stick truck. what month did the big pump start.

My 5-95 has a 175 on it.



Have him get the vin, 10th digit is the year. S is a 95 and T is a 96.

a 215 pump will have a 913 on the pump itself have him read off those numbers to you and if it doesn't have a 913 in the pump number it is the other.

Could be "913 or "887". Maybe that will help.

wasn't the first pumps 887 then they went to 913 (no internal difference). if the old guy can't see to read the tag on the timing cover. there is no way he is going to read the numbers on the pump. and best i could tell on my 94 a person would have to remove the throttle linkage bracket to see the id tag on the pump. but with my luck i fear it will be a 95 175hp truck. guess ill just part the whole thing when i get it.

You could also just look at the engine data plate and see what the HP rating is
