I'm getting ready to put a set of 22. 5" alcoas with a 2" or 2 1/2" level kit on front, has anybody done this or have any feed back for this, I have a 2004 1/2 Dodge Ram 3500 4X4 QC , I don't want any problems with it , I had the same truck before except a 2500 and put a 3" level on it and 35" tires (not Alcoa 22. 5") and had that death wobble, I do not want that again, any help here would be great.

Thank you

here is a link to my truck with 22. 5 Kenworth Alcoas 22. 5 Kenworth 10 lug wheels on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I ran them for about a year, the look was awsome but between the rim weight, adapter weight and tire weight there is about 600-700 lbs of rotating mass in the dually's alone which caused my new hi performance clutch to start slipping when I put my foot in it plus the wear and tear I felt it was putting on my truck from brakes to ball joints to clutch etc I figured if I am keeping this truck for a bit I need to take care of it.

If I considered doing it again I MIGHT do 19. 5s

I just purchassed an 03 with 22. 5's, it needs tierod ends, and the right upper ball joint has a little bit of play, no sign of death wobble, it does have a leveling kit, I am planning on the 08 steering upgrade, carli upper balljoints, and longer control arms, the tire is too close to the back of the fender for my taste. The tie rods are pretty bad. lots of slop still runs straight down the high way, just notice the play in town at lower speeds.

Thanks for the info guys, it sound like the22. 5's are hard on the front end and will cause problems, and that is what I'm trying to avoid, so I guess I will do the 19. 5's, Thanks again, it sure nice to have help like this when you need it, and I know Dodge/Cummins people are the best.

If the truck didn't come with the 22. 5's I wouldn't spend the money to buy them, 19. 5's would be enough, but they sure do make it not look like everybody elses truck. I hope that after rebuilding the front end that it will last at least another 100,000 miles before needing suspension work again.
