OK, I have the stacks now i need these wheels :)... I want alcoas... Who sells them at the best price. Which ones will work the best with my truck. Im making the converter at my shop i just need the wheels :D

I would like 22. 5's on my truck also. What is entailed in getting the Alcoas to work. I had heard that they did not work because of a special offset on the Dodges, and that because of the special offset you have to go for the 19. 5's through Rickson. Do you know somehing I need to understand? What is the real situation on 22. 5's?

Nick,

What do you think 22. 5's will do to your performance? It will reduce accelleration noticably. Brake performance will go down the chitter. Increased suspension degredation is a nother concern. I will bet big money that you will take them off within a month of putting them on. Besides, don't you have several projects going on in your shop already( mfg gear sets, Injectors etc... . ) finish them before you go on your next tangent. That is how you will start to mature and gain some respect in your life. (no, this is not your dad secretly signed on as Diesel Dan :-laf )

These "MONSTERS" will destroy your truck, you will have a hard time keeping the truck in the road- will follow ruts!. This is some advise from a close friend that did this and he practically shook the dash out of his truck, they will loosen things that are not supposed to loosened. Again, like the previous post, I ain`t your Dad but after all the money you spend , you will have a "COOL" looking truck, but just have to park in the Home Depot parking lot against the street so people can just look. Try to find some one who has already done this, and if they will shoot straight with you, I think you might change your mind. Go with the 19. 5`s I`m done!

ok thanks... with that in mind... . I know rickson makes the 19. 5" wheels. Id be fine with those also. . WHat info do i need to know about these?

Had Ricksons on a 97. Ride was degraded due to sidewall strength. They, also, will follow grooves. Personally, I had no problems with the setup other than mentioned above. They are a ***** if you loose a front wheel on a soft shoulder and have to bring it back. Sidewalls on these tires are very stiff.

Aside from what has already been mentioned what you should know is how heavy these things are. Rickson steel wheels are over 60 lbs each and aluminum about 35. Also note that they (nor anyone else) do not have an aluminum wheel in 19. 5" with teh correct offset for our new trucks. If you don't want them sticking out you're stuck with the heavy steel monsters. The tires will also be 50% heavier than the 17" tires as well as 50% (or more) more expensive.

19.5" wheels

I have had my 19. 5" rims on my 97 and transfered them to my 03. I run road tires and don't have any problems. Some people complain about ride Quality. A ram HD is not a Mercedes E class. If you like diesels and want a soft ride they have a model for you. XcumminsX Ilive in elk Grove Red 2500 quad W/cap and red 19. 5" with chrome trim rings

Don't forget about the headache rack :-laf

Just ribbin ya Nick, you'll figger it all out someday :D

I'm trying to be patient and wait for more e-rated 17" tires to come out that are larger than the 31. 4" stock size tires. Even some e-rated 20's that were 33" or bigger would be nice (those that exist now are $300 a pop)

BFG's commercial TA's are what I hoping for... the only problem is they don;t make them in 17's... at least not e-rated... yet.

As for the 19. 5" tires being more expensive than a set of 35's... uh-uh. The 315's (34. 5") are now over $200 a pop at most places and a set of 35X12. 50X17's will run you about $230 to get a GOOD tire... . none e-rated. I have priced 19. 5's to be at or under $250 per tire for good tires that should last 100,000 miles on a truck as light as ours... I say light because 4 19. 5's at full pressure will hold up about 17,000 lbs... our trucks fully loaded (legally anyway) will only be between 9,000 (2500) to 12,000 (3500 DRW) lbs.
