Has anyone put Alcoa 22. 5" rims on one of there new dually trucks? Need any lift? Any advice will help! Where can I get the rims and adapters the cheapest??

Thanks!

I saw a picture of an 03 dually on ebay with 22. 5's. They stuck out from the fender quite a bit. Didn't look very good. Consider 19. 5's. They don't stick out in the back as much.

www.chromewheel.com is about the cheapest place I've found. They have good prices on new Alcoa's and even better prices on refurbished takeoff Alcoa's.

Here are a couple of thoughts:

The problem with the 22. 5" are you really increase the ovreall wheel/tire diameter. To correct this you need to change differential ratios to something in the range of 4. 5 to 5. 0. The same goes for the brakes. You are putting a lot bigger moment arm for the brakes to stop.

When I moved form the 16" to the 19. 5" rims I inreased the wheel and tire weight from ~75# to 115#. This will increase even more for the 22. 5"s. The problem there is that you need to shock up to keep things from bouncing.

The 19. 5" comes in LRF through LRH. This is more than enough to carry over the GVW of the truck.

The 19. 5" are starting to get on the high end of the equation. And are in a number of ways overkill. The 22. 5" you will probably have to do some serious engineering to make things work safely.

Come on now, where is your spirit... I think the 22. 5's might look killer. shoot, give me some low profile tires, drop her in weeds some and you got her hooked baby. Maybe even two big fluffy dice to hang from the mirror, and some 14K gold curb feelers, WOW now ya got it goo'n on... ... . Baby

22.5s

dont listen to them, 22. 5 look great! ive got them on my 01. 5. If you have a 4. 10, you will be fine, takes a little more brake to stop, but with ex brake you will do fine. I have pics of my truck if you want them. Email me

don't laugh

I am putting some Alcoa 22. 5 rims on the rear of my dually.

they are 12. 25 wide. Some bald Goodyear G286 Floats will provide traction for the track.

They are 385/65 or I might try 425/65.

On the front, some 22. 5 with a Goodyear G159/G169 works.

The tire size here is 255/70

Kelly makes a tire that is a low profile 255/70 that would work well.

I will take some mock up pics to give you a visual

There is a Ford F350 and a Dodge3500 (both dualies 4x4) near me with 22. 5's on them. They look pretty good but tires stick out about 2. 5 to 3 inches from the fenderwell. They are not racetrucks fer sure.

22.5`s

Go ahead and put the 22. 5`son and then you can start hearing everything on your truck start to make noise from having it shake apart. your dash will be the first thing to start and then it will make its way thru the rest of your trk. Been there done that1 worst mistake you`ll ever make. just my $0. 02:(

Hey guys, that's Kelderman Mfg's show truck. With full airbags and Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, it better ride like glass. I can't imagine 22. 5 tires riding that much more harsh than 19. 5, which I've had and it wasn't that bad.
