I picked up a few boxes of olympic 5. 56 nato SS109 at my local gun shop the other day. I went out to play around and bumpfire a few mags through my Bushmaster. It kept getting jammed when the bolt came back to load the chamber. I made it throgh 12 rounds and the fire control locked up. I took it inside and broke it down and played with it. The hammer was cocked, the safety was on fire and the trigger was back and it was stuck. I shook it a little and out popped 2 primers. Shook it some more and a 3rd came out. I had to take the hammer out to get the 4th primer out of the gun. I went back through my empties and there was 4 shells missing primers. The bad thing is I only managed to fire 12 rounds in it. I took it back to Kieslers and they said they hadnt had anyone return that ammo due to bad primers, but they had sold 2 pallets of it from their last shipment. So I neded up with the bad box of several hundred cases. I then got some more Federal XM193 lot 16 and that works fine in it. I just wanted some steel core amo to play with some of my harder targets. Guess I should have stayed with what works.
Also the shells had no signs of over pressureizing or the firing pin punctering the primer. I havent checked headspace, but with 1800 rounds in a chrome lined Bushmaster, it shouldnt be a problem.
