New to TDR. I am a PROUD owner of a 08 6. 7l Cummins 3500 Dually. On the way back from our 1st of two regular annual trips to WDW I get the CEL light. Throw the H&S XRT Pro tuner on her (yes she is deleted) and up pops the 2262,no boost-mechanical. Ok,so she drives back 600 miles towing a 35ft 15,000lb fiver. NO SWEAT! However the code seems to have disabled the EB feature. I have checked a zillion different websites and have not been able to find anything newer than 2010 on this issue? Is it still rectified by installing a cleanout port in the turbo and having it flushed? Or worse yet an entire new turbo??? Since I have the deletes and she has 50,000 miles on her,can I take this to the dealer, have them run their diagnostics and expect them to be cooperative in resolving this issue? I am not putting that crap back on!!! Should I tear up and down Rt. 50 in 3rd at 90mph as some have suggested to free it up?:D Or could I expect my local mechanic to pull the turbo off, hose it down with cleaner and expect that to free up the sticking actuator or nozzle whatever?? Finally since it seems to run fine, what if I just leave it be?? It's been a great truck. And I have NEVER turned that EB button OFF since I've owned it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Steve

The clean out port will more than likely, will need to be performed and good luck with warranty, but unless you take it to your original dealer where you bought it at, I doubt that will happen, besides your very close to the end of your 5/100 CTD warranty, when did you purchase it? A lot of the Turbo's failed after the clean out was performed and had newer versions of the same turbo that had the OEM clean outs, replaced the older version. The latest clean out method might just save your turbo after the clean out port is performed.

Unfortunately the cleaning tools are expensive and the procedure requires the factory scanner to perform. You can still take it to the dealer on your dime for the procedure or take your turbo to a turbo shop that can tear down and clean it for you

They will work on it, but no warranty, it will cost at regular rates, the techs that have been losing money per warranty, will finally make some cash on one.

Yuuup! I'll be very surprised if a dealer will touch it.

As far as a warranty claim you are correct, but the 07'sand 08's are beginning to run out of warranty time wise so they are all filtering in to dealers for pay work. How many aftermarket shops have the tools or skills needed ?

Yeah, the days when the neighborhood garage could listen to an engine or drive a vehicle around the block to diagnose engine problems are a part of the past now. Owners will be using dealer service departments a lot more than in the past.

Thanks all for your prompt and honest replies. I do not see the cleanout port already installed, however I may be looking in the wrong place. As far as warranty issues go,I knew when I did the deletes that that was a forgone conclusion. I am the second owner. Bought it with 25k on her and this is the first and only issue I've had thus far. The only other question I would have is if I do opt to take it the dealer route for the cleaning would I need to restore the original factory settings with my H&S programmer in order for them to do their thing and clear the computer on the vehicle? And why can't the the turbo just be removed, cleaned thoroughly with compressed air and nuked with cleaner? Thanks again.

Removal of magic black boxes will not conceal evidence the box has been on the engine and parameters altered. An experienced Cummins tech can see the evidence in the ECM.

A dealer service department is not likely to do anything until they have hooked their diagnostic computer to your truck and looked for trouble codes.

The days of fooling the dealership are mostly history.

The days of fooling the dealership are mostly history.

Nah, they ARE history.

To the OP...

Best bet is to find a reputable diesel shop who can take care of it, not the Dodge dealer. I wouldn't trust most of them with anything other than regular maintenance.

Where are you located?

HSmartash, I don't think he's trying to hoodwink the dealer. What he seems to be asking, is that should he put it back to stock in order to help the tech, not deceive them. I would think that would be a good idea, if they require it back to stock then thats more labor added on if they do it.

No my intent is not to put one over on the dealer!!! Any competent mechanic upon opening the hood will KNOW something is missing! RV you are spot on! Anyway my last question on this issue. After the code came up I had to continue pulling the trailer home about 600 miles. No issues, short of the EB not working. I've seen no performance changes. What are or would be the consequences of leaving it as is? Thanks again.

The boost is not what the ECM expects. Even though you may not notice a drop in performance there will be a decrease. The question is how much
