I plan on doing some slow upgrades on my truck, but for now would like to upgrade from my 160HP camplate to either a 230 or 255 TST plate (since they have a better torque curve). I still have the stock 160 injectors and haven't had any problems with them. I have heard in the past that If you add too much fuel to them, you could have some problems. I don't run WOT but 3% of the time , most of the time I just drive normal to get up to speed (which is gradually getting into the pedal). As of now I am getting 18-19 city and 21-23 hwy mpg. Now for my Q, could I get the 255 TST plate and move it back some from the stock position, so that I don't get full power from it for now and later move it forward when I get my transmission upgraded, or could I get the 230 plate and later on move it forward from the stock position for more power in the future. I plan on getting bigger injectors in the future such as the 215's. Thanks for any answers. :)

I would go with the #5 (255) plate and Piers gov. spring kit. The spring kit is my second favorite upgrade. My dtt transmission being the most favorite. This way the power is on tap:D but you don't have to us it.

Go for the #5 and turn up the pressure in your VB for now to help hold the torque. Try to take it easy until you can upgrade your trans.

Another thing I was thinking of was that sliding the stock plate forward would result in higher EGT's, and that I haven't changed out the boost elbow. I can hit 1200* pretty quick If I hold it to the floor from a stand still while it shifts through the gears. Will the new plate help lower the temps?

I had the stock plate forward for a while and had to lift to avoid excessive EGT. So far, so good with the #5. The temp goes up quick but seems to taper off near 1300. Haven't actually hit that yet.

i worried for a while with that same decision, and a wise man told me, "go with the power ... you won't be sorry. " he was very wise, and i love my higher plate. i get the same situation on egts when i romp it from a standing start, but that's the only time my egts get high. i have pulled up mountains and not gotten above 1200, but i can jump it to 1450 in a hurry under non-pulling acceleration. go with the power ... you won't be sorry!;)

I think you'll be happy whichever route you take. I think if you plan on making the trans upgrades in the future, the 255 would be the way to go.

I love my truck with the 230, my next upgrade will be the gov spring kit. I don't know why, I have all the power I need. I guess it will just help with the shift points.

You will love the 3k springs, they are a real good $125. 00 investment and they are painless to install, the hardest part is turning the motor over by yourself, message me in you have any questions about it.

Thanks Jim,

It will probably be spring before I tackle it. After Christmas I'll look at making the purchase, then wait till it warms up. Truck is too long for my garage. :)

Thanks Guys!

I think I'll go with the 255 plate, now all I need to know is how far back (in thousands, to the back of engine) from stock position should I go... . 020,. 030,or . 060. I think I might start at . 080... ... . not shure, don't want to overload the 160 injectors.
