Time to replace the tires and I'm wondering if Michelin 235/85R16E tires will fit OK on my stock (no lift) 2WD. I guess I'm mainly concerned about the front tires hitting the fender liner when turning. I want the taller tires so that rpms will be lower at highway speeds. I know I'll have to compensate for the speedo error.

Are there any disadvantages to the narrower tire as far as handling is concerned?

Don't want any nasty surprises after laying out $6-700 for new tires.

I ran 235/85s for 2 years then decided I wanted something a little wider so I put on 265/75s earlier this year. No problems at all with rubbing with the 235s. Ride and handling are MUCH better with the new 265 BFGs and they are the same height as the skinny tires.

I run 235's on mine with no problems. Also ran them on my 1st gen with no problems. That's the size my tire guy recommends and that's what I use! By the way, mine handles and rides great, much better than it did with the 265-75's that were on it when I got it!
