Any one with a P1700 Pump on a 01, 24 valve

on the 01 truck I would like to swap vp44 to a 180 to 215 P Pump

If I understand this, correct I need to change the pump timing case & cover

pump drive gear & maybe the cam gear.

will the cam have to come out, I think it is a press fit

could i drill & tap three holes in the cam gear & use a puller with a little heat to remove the gear from the cam in place & use a little heat to put the gear

back on. will the other gears come out OK to get the timming case out.

I understand I will need special injectors & lines is this correct.

If so where do I find them. I would like to use as many stock parts sa possible

I have the case pump on hand. we are not talking about cost.

I would like to here from people who has done the converison

How did it come out power & milage wise.

The engine will be comptely Mechanical Is this correct

Did I miss anything.

My Son has done it on his 2001. 5.

It was alot of work!! I watched and helped out from time to time.

There are electrical issues also, he ended up moving the computer ,which is in the way of the P7100 or very close to interfering with it, cruise control etc.

He is setting it up for WVO and that has heated lines a second tank lots of valves and solenoids.

There are conversion kits available to ease the pain.

He has slowly been tuning the P7100, timing, AFC, fuel plates etc.

The cam (aftermarket HIPO) was changed for the mechanical fuel pump, valve springs for the 4K (RPM) spring kit.

It runs hard, hard enough to smoke the stock clutch, another $800. 00+

It is all mechanical like you said and he also built a manaul fuel shut off.

This is a quote from him, if I had to do it again I would have bought a 12V motor and swapped it in!
