Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 24 valve chip suggestions.

My dad has a 2001 with a built auto, 4" exaust, AFE filter, gauges and a programed module by hyperchip? Boost peaks at 22 lbs. the problem we are having now is that the transmission is is not completly hooking up between 30 and 35 mph. It fluctuates about 300 rpm. Took it to the transmission shop, checked out o. k. Suggested getting the computer re flashed. My question is if I were to buy an aftermarket chip, would this do the same thing? Any suggestions with this combo?

Mine does the same thing around 35 MPH... feels like the torque converter is locking and unlocking. I still haven't tried the fix from the last issue of the TDR with the aluminum foil over part of the wiring harness. It's on the to-do list for the weekend.
