Attention: TDR Forum Junkies After much soul searching today I went for a $129. 95 special from Cummins Northwest-Anchorage that I received in the mail. It was running fine but... ... what the h---, go for it.
They did a great job. Found the exh. valves slightly out of spec. and the intakes considerably out. 86k miles on the engine and 1st tune-up. Included in that was a new valve cover gasket and a serpentine belt supplied and installed. What a great deal. He also checked my manifold bolts and they were tight.
I postponed the included power engine wash as the outside temp. was -15F. He said they spray a floor cleaner with wax on the engine first and then spray it off with high press. water. It leaves all of the engine parts and plastic parts looking clean and new.
Will make a 400 mile road trip tomorrow and will know the results.
They were not a bit interested in the few minor "enhancements" on the engine.
