I'm going to R&R my clutch/transmission. While this is apart what would y'all suggest I check/renew on the transfer case, i. e. , gaskets, seals, parts, etc. ? TIA

How many miles on the truck? I would definitely check the chain for looseness. Also check the bushing in the tailhousing for wear. If the bushing is worn, it can cause a leak at the rear output seal and some driveline vibration. Check the pads on the shift forks for any wear and replace the o-ring on the oil pump pickup tube. You'll obviously need new seals all the way around. Hope that helps.

Yessir, thank you very much. Exactly what I was looking for. Truck has 107K on it. I figured there must be some maintenance/preventive stuff I could while I have it out. BTW, Tcase/4WD has been used very little since the truck was new.

Know anything about the "Transfer Case Saver"? I found it here - http://www.drivetrain.com/gillies/Tcasesaver.html

I just looked a the website again and in the lowest right photo it says "Final installation in NP 241. " Wonder what gives?

I believe it fits the 241 as well. Might have to just call and ask. I've never heard about a snap ring failure until I saw that product advertised years ago. Still haven't heard about a failure... but I guess for the price it doesn't hurt that much to try it if it gives a little peace of mind.

Diffently put in the gillys t. c saver! I broke the clip in my case twice before replacing it with the gillys piece, and saw one other truck that came into the garage that needed some expensive repairs because the guy keep on driving it with the c-clip broken. It's very easy to install and good quality. I'd recommend it for any truck from stock to wild.
