Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 241std T Case

HELP 241 STD CASE VIBES??

T Case pops out of 4 low. Was once not properly engaged, popped out under heavy load. Now must hold in under load.

????



Changed to 85W140 about 50K miles ago after consulting D/C mechanic. A Vibration is now getting slowly worse during last 30K miles. T Case removed, looks OK, Fork and slip collars look OK, Lube discolored, Oil pick up screen mostly plugged. Never run low on lube. ????? Could the Planetary be causing Vibes???

I would start by going back to the person that recommended you run a heavy gear oil in a box that was designed to run in a 10 weight oil. Bad idea

Ordinarily it is a linkage adjustment that will cause the transfer case to pop out of gear(incomplete engagement) but after so many miles you may indeed have bigger problems.

Check your bearings are they smooth and quiet?Oil p/u tube being plugged you have probably got considerable wear on everything,bearings,shafts,and gears
