I have on the stock Michelin LTX/MS 245/75/16 tires now and will be going to the 265/75/16 soon (backordered for 2 - 4 weeks) Will I have to get a different spare or will that 245 still work? I wasn't sure if one tire spinning faster than the other will screw up the insides of my front or rear axles. Thanks guys, JH

Do you have limited slip on the rear? If so running the two different sizes will tear up your rear end. You could put the spare up front and not harm anything. So if you get a flat on the rear you have to move a front to the rear and put spare on the front. I would just spend the $$$ and get a 265 size for the spare as well.

Yes if you have a limited slip ,it will burn up the limited part of it because one tire will be rotating faster than the other. Also the spiders in the center of the carrier are meant for going around corners, or to say to let one tire travel faster than the other for a very limited time. The washers beside the spiders will wear out and you will have play using resulting in diff failure.

Steve,

You are correct that mismatched tires will burn up a limited slip. However, your front spider gears are constantly spinning, as they are driven by the left wheel. If they were not spinning in the differential case, the case, ring & pinion, drive shaft, and transfer case input would all be turning.
