Competition Indoor PULL!!

Off Roading Rock Sliders...

what kind of power/tq are ya'll putting down w/ your 24V?? also--what kind of fuel system enhancements have you done???

im asking because i still have a completly stock fuel system (only ever lost 1 lp pump) and id like to see around 400 hp for my daily driver. i know there are a ton of opinions out there (ie, fass, rasp, carters, holley's, etc)--i guess id just like to get a general idea of what the pullers/racers are using. TIA

I'm not a racer or puller but for the amount of power your looking at, just replacing the banjo's is all you'll need. The kit I have replaced the banjo bolts with AN fittings and relies on the LP in the stock location. I am getting 16psi at idle and 8psi with the comp on 5x5 at WOT. Original LP at 80K miles and close to 450HP.

Not a drager or puller BUT. I have a 02 5sp with a drag comp/Superchip DD'2 hx-35/12 afe Rip Rook/Mark S. Duell 4". I have not Dynoed it yet. But last time it was close to 400. But I think it was with a hx-40. It will be on the Dyno in a week at Lennys shop. So I can give you up to date numbers then. Right now it has a (new) stock lift pump and the biger banjo's. But im going to install a carter or Summit pusher for it. It had a PE pump but I don't think it lasted to long with the old owner. The Fass is nice but thats a lot of $ for just another electric pump. Time will tell how long it will last. I know a lot of people are installing them so if there is a problem everyone will know about it very shortly.

Best of luck to ya

Whoah 400 from a set of 2's and a comp / hx35

When I was running DDIII's and had a Pe4200 pump that I installed 2 years ago til the last Thunder in muncie where it gave up the ghost. With 8-An lines to the fuel can and -6An to the VP I could pull down 2 pounds with the box on coal miner mode. Then I tossed in the 160 HP EDM's with that same PE pump and could pull it down 4-6 lbs then it died in muncie. I now have a FASS that I put in at the LEE's Inn parking lot. Allmost a year later and with those same EDM's Prolly I loose 2 ... maybee 3 lbs on crop duster mode. But the amazing thing is that it recovers quick as heck!!! I agree with GM ... . another electric pump. I like the Rasp as hey its MECHANICAL Oo.

Mostly anything will handle 400. It's HOW reliably it will do it is the question and how much ya are willing to part with. All the systems are fantastic that are avalable TODAY ... . but there is allways a few months from now or even next year when something shiny and plays mp3's and sends your FedEx packages out automaticly :-laf comes out ya just never know. However we ARE fortunate enough to be in the present era of manufactures that are making better , more reliable , stronger systems available to us where only a few short years back there were not too many off the shelf things made.

My tow rig has put out 462hp and 1050ft lbs torque with a PDR HX40x16 and DD3's with a comp box just running dual Carter pumps thru stock fuel system. The Red Rocket has hit 715hp and 1475ft lbs torque with a pe4200 a comp box and big injectors and a little nitrous. Nowel got 788hp out of it with a lot of nitrous :D

Hoss; I am researching to upgrade my fuel system. How is your fuel system setup with the Carters? Are you using them to feed your LP? Are they in series or parallel? Did you go with larger lines? Thank you for the help.

When I was making around 400hp with the stock lift pump and larger banjos, I could pull the pressure down to ~2 by the end of the 1/4 mile. With my current setup (dyno figures in sig), my pressure goes from about 15 at idle to 14 by the end of the 1/4 mile. And the pickup is my daily driver...

I have the stock fuel system and with a 35/40 hybrid dd2's comp box and upgraded trans I did 387hp and 815 tq. . I could not get my tq to lock up.

then I raced it with water/meth and blew the head gasket at 900 ft and ran 13. 8 @ 104. . my truck is a 01 4x4 QC. . My new LP hold the psi fine. . since all my bombs I've put 20,000 miles with no problems with the motor. . Trans, well that's a different story. . now I have a full DTT ever everything. Anther friend C-hawk has the same with with the 40 turbo and a fass and did 12. 9's

His truck FLY's and has a lot more miles. .

I have a stock Carter in the stock location and a pusher pump back at the tank with stock lines. I see 23psi at idle and 16psi at 70 on the freeway and can only drop to 9psi at wot. Works for me.

just wanted to say thanks for all the replys. there are so many dang directions you can take w/ our fuel systems. i think i have one of the good trucks though. i dont chew up vp's or lp's, dont have the 53 block, dont have low fuel psi at wot--she really has been a good rig. i guess i'll do the banjo's to start with and see where i sit after that w/ my fp. again--thanks guys.

I agree, IF you are only going to go to 400 HP.

I ran the bigger banjos at 500 HP for almost a year and my stock LP in the stock location did an "ok" job. I could suck it down to 4 psi on WOT runs making 60psi. But of course I had 17 psi at idle, which is very unusual for a stock lp. I had a total of 60 k on the original vp44 that has had boxes stacked on it for 50k of its life.

I did not dyno the 400. The old owner did. I do belive it had a Piers 40 and a PE pump on it at that time. But im not shure. I will dyno this sunday at Lennys and post what ever numbers I turn. I hope its up there (close to 350-390)

Later
