Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 24V Valve Adjustment

Finally got my barring tool and timing kit for my 12V. Now that I have the barring tool I'm gonna check the valves on my '02 24V HO 6 Speed.



Are there any "special" issues I need to look out for? And, BTW,what are the specs?

It's fairly straight forward. Just the valve cover is a moderate PITA to get off.

Intake 0. 010

Exhaust 0. 020



Set the mark on the gear at TDC and check cylinders 1, 2 & 4 intake and 1,3 & 5 exhaust. Set the mark on the gear to the 6 o'clock position (180* from the TDC mark) and check cylinders 3, 5 & 6 intake and 2, 4 & 6 exhaust.

12 rocker arms, but they are ganged together so you'll have 6 towers--if you remove all the bolts completely from the valve cover you can lift it up and straight out---if you leave the bolts in you will need to lift it up and then push the rear heater hose down and move the valve cover to the left and then pull it straight out
