25"+ of snow in Buffalo tells me I made a good decision with the power heated mirrors

When I ordered my truck I liked the new flip up towing mirrors but didn't like the idea of not getting the power or heat. So I stayed with the standard power heated ones and am glad I did. After being in this last snow storm in Buffalo, NY with my new truck I have appreciation for both these features. With the power I was able to flip them down and watch the Dually flairs for manuvering arround the disabled vehicles and with the heat I could actually see when everyones were froze up. For towing I will just get some mirror extensions later.

I have been contemplating on trying to combine the two. Take the tow mirror base extension and try to mount the power/heated mirror and housing on it. I don't know if it will work, but hopefully I can find some in a wrecking yard for pretty cheap and experiment.

Glad you like the mirrors.
I have the other mirrors that aren't heated and such. I would rather scrap the frost off my mirrors and see what was behind/beside me then have heated mirrors with no side view.

Hale on Wheels if you come up with something that works let me know. I to would like to have the best of both worlds.
See Ya

What tires did you get on your rig? How did it do in the snow? Did the LSD help or hurt?
Sorry for all of the questions but I am ordering a rig like yours and I am just curious.
Thanks
Dennis

I have the standard Goodyear tires. I liked the LSD. Someone told me that I wouldn't like the way it walks the back end over when you spin the tires. This would have been true if I had a 2WD. But with the 4WD, I had it locked in when the road was that slippery. I had one occasion where because of the long wheelbase I couldn't dirrectly manuver between the open space. The roads were like a parking lot with abandoned or standing cars. So I just poped it out of 4wd and kicked the rear end arround to circumvent it, worked like a charm. Traction for forward motion the setup seemed unstopable. But on the bad side for stopping it seemed almost unstoppable too. The 4 wheel antilocks didnt impress me, but I think most of this was not an aggressive enough tread design on the tire. They easily packed with snow and skidded on stopping, but cleaned themselves out on acceleration. I hope this info is usefull to you.
